Whats up everyone! This is Ao, bringing you another blog. As you may be aware, I'm watch a lot of cartoons. However, today I'm going to bring you something different, a review on the infamous 'Amy's Baking Company' episode from Kitchen Nightmares. Kitchen Nightmares is a reality show that features the award winning chef and highly successful businessman Gordon Ramsay. Gordon goes to troubled restaurants and attempts to use his knowledge and expertise to turn the restaurant around.
Episode Highlights
In this episode, Gordon Ramsay visits Amy's Backing Company, a restaurant run by the couple Amy and Sammy Bouzaglo. The couple are struggling with attracting customers and staff turnover, however, they believe their food is great, and can't see why more people aren't coming to eat. Gordon Ramsay gives them a reality check, and tells them their food is substandard. For example, Gordon criticize the food for being too doughy. However, Amy will have none of it, and reaffirms how every loves her cooking. On one particular night, during service, the couple can be seen insulting customers who complain about their food, and at one point, Sammy admits to taking tips from their waitresses. Gordon confronts Sammy in front of the whole restaurant, and Sammy goes berserk at Gordon, saying that he is the gangster, not Gordon. Gordon continues to try talking some sense into the couple. However, the couple prove exceeding aggressive to criticism, and are extremely stubborn. Despite Gordon's best efforts, he decides to quit the show, as he believes the couple are beyond help.

Up until this episode, Gordon Ramsay has visited many restaurants, and despite the challenges, would always stay until the end. However, in this particular episode, Gordon quit. That's right, this was the first episode that Gordon walked out of the show and quit. This came as a huge surprise to me, because I've watched a lot of Kitchen Nightmare episodes, and I know Gordon is one stubborn fellow. But then again, these owners, Sammy and Amy, especially Amy, were something else. Amy seems to be absolutely delusional about her level of cooking. She is convinced she can do no wrong, and that everything she does is perfect. In fact, at several points during the episode, she would get extremely agitated at anyone criticizing her. I believe her husband, Sammy, is at fault as well. He also refuses to criticize Amy, and reaffirms her behavior. For example, when food was sent back, Sammy would refuse to let Amy know.

Rating
Drama: 10/10! This episode deserves this rating solely because chef Ramsay walked out for the first time ever!
Editing: 4/10. Look, and this is just me, I'm not a big fan of the editing in the American version of Kitchen Nightmares. There's too much dramatic music, screen wipes, and it just feels artificial and annoying.
Overall: 8/10. A good episode. Unfortunately, the ending was a bit anti-climatic. I would recommend this episode! Even if you aren't a Kitchen Nightmare's fan.
