The suspense of finding out Barry Allen is not dead gives us peace of mind. We find out that he has integrated with the speed force. While his episode doesn't have any stand out moments (save for Barry's heart whelming conversation with the speed force apparition of his mother Nora.), it prepares us for the final two episodes and the final fight of the season with Zoom. Within the speed force Barry overcomes the loss of his mother and the understanding of how if he doesn't get his speed back he will lose everything he loves. The season-long dead Girder has arisen as a zombie due to the contained particle accelerator explosion at the end of the last episode. This lead to a lot of humour from Cisco as zombies is just another day at S.T.A.R Labs.
