Hello everyone! Ao here again with another post. Hope you've been enjoying this blog so far. In this installment, I review another classic South Park episode. This episode is titled 'Jared Has Aides', from season six of South Park.
Plot Summary
In this episode, Jared, the guy from the Subway commercials that lost a tremendous amount of weight apparently eating Subway sandwiches (remember those ads on TV in the early 2000s?), goes to South Park to promote Subway. The boys, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman, decide to follow in Jared's footsteps. Their plan is to force feed their whipping boy, Butters, so that he gains a lot of weight, and then make him lose the weight. They plan to approach the local Chinese restaurant, City Wok, and get them to pay them for saying Butters lost weight eating their food. The City Wok owner agrees, and so begins Butter's force feeding.
The boys, and a rather overweight Butters, propose their deal to City Wok http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/cartoonfatness/images/8/81/Butters_Fat.png/revision/latest?cb=20141025100906 |
Thoughts and Review
This episode was pretty funny overall. It was also a bit grotesque at times. The part where Butters gets liposuction at home by the boys seemed a bit over the top, but this is South Park, so that should be expected. I thought the Jared has 'aides' part was a witty play on words. The ending was justified, the boys treated Butters terribly! But in the end, they didn't profit from their schemes. While this episode was funny, it wasn't anything special, nothing too memorable. I would recommend this episode to South Park fans only, as I think there are better episodes that casual fans could watch, such as this episode I've already reviewed: https://isystrio.blogspot.com.au/2016/05/good-times-with-weapons.html.
Overall: 6/10
Comedy factor: 5/10. Not the funniest, but still funny.
Plot: 5/10. A witty plot, if not a bit absurd.
